Strip the Willow

Longways sets of 4 or 5 couples. A very energetic, enjoyable dance.
I Top Couple Turn Top couple hold both hands and turn (not to fast) at the top of the set. The first time this is done to an introductory 4 bars. On repeats this is done until the old top couple have finished stripping. The lady keeps her eye on the old couple and when they have finished stripping she starts the new sequence.

Both  strip the willow down the set, turning with their partner by the right arm and the  line by the left, progressing down the line. They stay down at the bottom of the set, everyone else moves up one place.
The new top couple start the top couple turn as soon as the old couple are half way down the set.
- 9/8 Jigs and some 6/8 jigs with the right feel. Introductory 4 bars and then at least 48 bars x 4  or 32 bars x 6 This dance should not be called after the first time through as the sets always get out of sequence.
